About Us:

The Service Industries Training Advisory Council (SITAC) works to ensure the NT perspective is heard at the national level and incorporated into the national picture.

SITAC supports NT businesses to ensure they have skilled people to keep their businesses and the NT economy strong.

We provide information to local and national policy makers to make sure NT workforce development needs are met.

We consult with local businesses to identify current and future training requirements and skills shortages.

We keep local businesses up to date on training relating to their industry, and informed about government initiatives and funding. We provide consultation opportunities to business and training organisations across the NT to participate in the development and review of training qualifications, and to ensure workforce development requirements are met.

We represent industry in training and policy development of the NT and national vocational education and training system (VET).

By participating in national and network meetings, we’re able to ensure the NT perspective is included in national VET forums.

Some of our projects:

1) Community Based Indigenous Trainers (CBIT) is a project in its final stages. The project is about upskilling indigenous leaders to help facilitate training and build capability in indigenous communities.  Over 30 people will receive a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This will then enable community to use community based local people to work with trainers to train in the community.

2) Implementation of the NT Flexible Learning Strategy.  SITAC can assist in the understanding of e-learning at all levels - from planning to implementation.  We provide technical support and advice about how technology can be embedded in teaching and assessment practices to support skill development. From time to time, we can offer structured, non-accredited professional development workshops in using technology and finding resources. For more information, visit : http://www.flexiblelearning.net.au/content/northern-territory-activities
