Indigenous Carbon Farming Fund and The Biodiversity Fund

The Australian Government has introduced a carbon tax of $23/tonne which will come into force from 1 July 2012.

 
Although the carbon price will not apply to agricultural emissions, it will enhance opportunities for farmers and land managers under the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI).
 
Through the Indigenous Carbon Farming Fund, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will receive assistance to participate in the CFI.
 

Round two of RDAF open for business

A further $200 million is now available for Round Two of the $1 billion Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF). 

Opening the newest RDAF round, Mr Crean said the Gillard Labor Government would continue to work in close partnership with local communities to drive growth and development across Australia's regions.
 

350 new Indigenous jobs for Ayers Rock Resort and Australia’s hospitality industry

An Indigenous training and employment program will be established at the Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara to attract employees locally and from across Australia thanks to a $4.9 million partnership between the Australian Government and Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC).

Remote Servicing Review Consultations and Discussion Paper

In the 2011-12 Budget the Australian Government announced a review of remote participation and employment services with a view to introducing improvements from 1 July 2013.

Consultation strategy

On 29 June 2011 the government announced the consultation strategy for the review. The consultations will guide and inform the design of the new arrangements for remote participation and employment services.

The consultation schedule is available for New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia.  The schedule for the Northern Territory contains locations and dates and will be filled with the venues and times as they become available.

The Government has announced the release of a discussion paper, The Future of Remote Participation and Employment Servicing Arrangements

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) has released the Request for Tender (RFT) for the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) for the purpose of appointing providers to two IEP Panels for the period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2015.

This is the most recent in a series of reports commissioned by the Council of Australian Governments in 2002, to track the extent to which government policies and programs are making a difference to the lives of Indigenous Australians.

The inaugural Jobs Australia Indigenous Forces at Work Conference held in Alice Springs from 1st to 3rd June 2010 was a chance for Indigenous Training Network (ITN) members from central, city and remote parts of Australia to meet together face-to-face for the first time as an entire network
